| Tartalmi kivonat: | Following the admission of female students at the beginning of the 20th century, women also began to appear as staff members at Hungarian universities. A review of existing research on this topic reveals that the history of female teachers has been largely overlooked. This study examines the role of female employees at the University of Szeged between the two world wars. Using university yearbooks, almanacs and archival sources, it presents the trends in the emergence of female staff and, more specifically, the first female private professors. The most significant finding is that an increase in the proportion of female students was followed by a notable delay in the appointment of female staff. However, the research also highlights that many aspects of this phenomenon require further investigation. Keywords: women’s history, female staff members, Univerity of Szeged, higher education, interwar period |
