Tartalmi kivonat:In the first chapter I give a psychological background to non-verbal communication. I list the different approaches, the functions, sources, units of non-verbal behaviour in human interaction and the human codes. In the second chapter: -First I analyze how the theacher's non verbal behaviour can affect the student's learning, attitudes and behaviour. -Secondly how to use gestures, eye contact and voice in the English lesson to make the teaching procedure more effective. -Thirdly I show the way , how I can make the little students start to speak English without being stressed, with the help of „body language". I highlight the importance of the silent period. In the last part of this chapter I introduce how the teacher can raise the pupil's attention to the other part of the communication trough activities such as mimes and role plays. Chapter three is about the need of cross-cultural understanding. I write about the most important aspects of non-verbal communication for understanding each other. In the conclusion I summarise the teacher's roles in English teaching in connection with the non-verbal communication.
