Tartalmi kivonat:This diploma work deals with language games in the English classroom, especially `Listen-and-do' games. It gives some definitions of games, reasons why we should use them, different categories (according to skill, level, function). Games need preparation from the teacher and learners' participation. Dealing with these activities we have to look at the advantages (as they are much more), not the disadvantages of playing games. I know that moving games need space, and the class should be reorganised, but it is worth doing so. During the long days learners need moving and having fun. By various types of scoring we can create a pleasant atmosphere and encourage everybody to take part in games. Making a survey on games can be very instructive for teachers. We think over what we really do during our lessons and decide if we use enough fascinating activities. In Hungary English teachers know a lot about language teaching, use many games, but we have to admit that some of them think that games do not have real educational aim, they just entertain learners.
