Tartalmi kivonat:The main statement of the paper is that the situation of Romanies in Hungary is worse than that of the Blacks in America. The intention of the study is to prove that this phenomenon has its roots in the difference of the historical development of the two communities and also in the different economic background of Hungary and the United States of America. The paper consists of three main parts. Firstly, the study deals with the presentation of Black Americans and Hungarian Romanies. It gives a brief historical review of those events that influenced the situation of these two minority groups. Secondly, the progress of the communities is discussed in detail. The study compares the two communities with respect to education, working facilities, crime and culture. The last part contains the conclusion according to the discussed facts.
