Tartalmi kivonat: | This thesis examines a twentieth century American drama written by Eugene O'Neill, entitled Mourning Becomes Electra. I will prove that with the suitable background knowledge, that is: ancient Greek theatre and modem psychology, the main gist of the play can be detected through the characters' traits and mental statuses. Mourning Becomes Electra is a complex but obvious study of both the Antiquity and psychoanalysis at the same time. My primary source will be the text of O'Neill's drama itself. As my secondary source I will present scientific articles and studies from psychology and psychoanalysis by the help of which I can prove my arguments throughout the thesis. |
