Tartalmi kivonat:This thesis examines the animal characters in the novel `Animal Farm', written by George Orwell. The novel rises the issue whether a `revolution' can change the hierarchical structure of a social system. The main theme of this thesis is to prove that the `ideal society', which is based on `equality', is only a `pure illusion". Through the analyses of the animal characters, which symbolise characteristic human traits and behaviour, I will demonstrate that the idealistic society, where "All animals are equal", never arrives according to George Orwell.
