Tartalmi kivonat: | This thesis explores how to develop students' and teachers' awareness of intercultural concerns, and their sense of belonging to a modern, dynamic, multicultural community. The examination is preceded by a presentation about the relationship of language and culture. Then it specifies the elements of intercultural competence. It determines the way, how develop materials based on the intercultural aspect. Finally it compares an English course book written by a native speaker writer and another student's book with a Hungarian author. It shares experiences on how teachers can help students by pointing out major areas of culturally-influenced behaviour such as greeting or degrees of politeness to make their own culture explicit and to realise that other cultures might have different underlying values. Comparing the students' books I came to the conclusion how important of developing intercultural communicative competence in pupils. |
