Tartalmi kivonat:The main purpose of the MA paper is to examine the representation of Black women in America, who were put on the margin by not only by white hegemonic masculinity, white feminism but also by Black males themselves. As a response to this triple oppression African-American women intellectuals started to design their own voice in the terrain of Black Feminist Theory and have established their own standpoints that is not exclusonary but open to the notions of coalition and dialogues with other groups. In the first part of the paper, key aspects of Black Feminism and its history are introduced based on the relevant literature from the field of Black Feminist and African American studies. I will use my findings in the analysis of Toni Morrison’s novel Paradise and claim that her novel is an intraracial, gender bias literary work. My aim is to draw parallels between the theoretical notions of Black Feminsm’s opennes towards the importance of coalition and knowledge sharing aspects that reflects back on how the conflict is suggested to be solved in Morrison’s Paradise.
