| Tartalmi kivonat: | This thesis examines Lajos Kossuth’s tour in Great Britain and in the United States. In 1851 and 1852, he visited England and the United States and made a kind of agitation tour to find supporters for his ’intervention for non-intervention’ policy. I will prove that Kossuth’s tour was not a success because he could not reach his aims as the timing of his tour was absolutely inadequate and the internal and the foreign affairs of Great Britain and the United States did not render the intervention in Hungary possible. Using Kossuth’s and English and American politicians’ speeches I will demonstrate that Kossuth could not change the governments’ doctrine and could not find any supporters from the leading political circles, in spite of the fact that he gained reputation and sympathy among people. |
