Tartalmi kivonat:The subject of the present thesis is the Instinctive Method. The aim of the thesis is to present a language teaching method, i.e. the Instinctive Method from both a theoretical and a practical point of view. The method has been used for many years in one of the language schools in Szeged and in many ones in Hungary and abroad. Although those teachers who teach in these schools are familiar with the method, it has not yet been introduced to those who stand outside this school system. The main point of the thesis is a hypothesis that aims at examining whether this method is a new and original one or it is just a mixture of some elements taken from other well-known methods. In order to accomplish these tasks, we must examine the Instinctive Method in a methodological context. The best possible way of accomplishing this examination is to compare and contrast the Instinctive Method with the other widely-known and applied methods and to highlight the differences and similarities between them. After comparing and contrasting the methods, I will review the principles of the Instinctive Method in a separate chapter so that the reader can see them from another point of view. The second part of the thesis, with the title `Putting Theory into Practice' will illustrate how the Instinctive Method is applied in the classroom, what equipment and teaching techniques are used and how successful they are.
