| Tartalmi kivonat: | After the world wars, an increasing number of women entered the workforce, which affected all areas. However, this process has not yet come to an end, and there are areas where, despite the importance of female representation, male dominance is still prevalent. One such area is public administration and legislation. In these fields, there has been little improvement in gender equality over the past decades, even though there is a clear demand for its elimination. According to surveys conducted in European Union countries, Iceland has the highest female participation rate in legislative bodies at 47.6%, while the lowest is found in Hungary at 14.1%. The data shows that in terms of legislative representation and representatives, Hungary does not have an equal ratio of women to men. In my research, I use data analysis and document analysis to highlight Hungary’s shortcomings, examining the placement of women according to political parties and ideologies. I review female presence in the legislature from the transition period to the present, including interpersonal changes and the impact of the glass ceiling phenomenon observed in Hungary. |
