| Tartalmi kivonat: | In the 2020s, with the announcement of the European Green Deal, new challenges have emerged on the ECB's horizon, requiring a new approach: action on climate change has monetary policy implications, notably because crisis management and inflation targeting intersect at the euro area central bank. Additionally, in the green transition, the ECB is now expected to react in a quicker and more preventive way at the same time. While the original objective of monetary policy in the euro area, price stability, has not changed, the green transition predictably has an inflationary effect. The euro area central bank's approach to the green transition considers climate change as a systemic, irreversible challenge, in contrast to known economic risks. This is an unprecedented development in the ECB's price stability mission: taking into account the experience of previous crises, prevention and management of crises of non-economic nature are becoming increasingly important. This study's aim is to explore the impact of the green transition on the European common monetary policy in a descriptive way. |
