This study is to prove his capacities in letter-writing, too. On the one hand Bethlen's letters are trusty sources for historians and on the other, lend themselves to follow the development of his prose, before and after his chef-d'oeuvre: Memoires (Önéletírás). Two unpublished missives are added to represent the forerunners of his methods used in his well-known book. |
