Tartalmi kivonat: | Most of the Latin and Greek inscriptions from Roman Pannonia that can be identified as Jewish were discovered during the Age of Dualism. These inscriptions attracted significant interest not only among archaeologists and historians but also within public opinion at the time, and they were notably covered by the press. In this study, I examine several of these inscriptions and the contemporary reactions to them in literature and the printed press. This analysis demonstrates that evidence of the ancient presence of Jews in Pannonia influenced the development of Jewish self-identity and self-definition, a critical issue in that era. |
