| Tartalmi kivonat: | In my study, I presented the history of the Roman Catholic Church of my native village, the Törtel village of Pest county, and the available press sources from which we can learn about it. The village and its church, which has a Cuman origin and a rich archaeological heritage, lived through the Turkish occupation, the subsequent reconstruction, the reform era, and the expansion between the two world wars, during which the church acquired the shape it still sees today. However, this would not have been possible without the parish in Törtel, which consisted of simple but hardworking people who did not regret joining together, making sacrifices and donating to maintain the condition of the church, and for its expansion and modernization. I think it is important that we get to know the values that belong to our own homeland. The Village Museum Friends’ Association of Törtel, of which I am also a member, is working to collect as much physical and written material from the history of the village as possible and to make it known to the general public. |
