Tartalmi kivonat: | Matteo Ricci and the Italian language. The estrangement from his native country is for the Jesuit Matteo Ricci (1552-1610) an alienation from himself in the purpose of finding his own real identity. Ricci is a “Chinese among Chinese”, behaving the same way as they do, adopting different missionary personae. The inculturative operation falls within the process of a communicative approach between him and his Chinese interlocutors, made possible in so far as he is able to immerse himself in the foreign world. The intellectual aspect of melancholy we find in Ricci is linked to the association with the imagination used when the subject is displaced from his own world. The language itself, and Ricci’s native language also, must be measured over this distance, and the distance leads to a transcendence of the limits in the Christian interpretation of otherness. |
