Az alábbiakban a szegedi repülés első fejezeteivel foglalkozunk. In the early stages of its history, aviation was regarded as a spectacle by the public and it attracted a lot of attention. Th e new fl ying invention excited a lot of interest in Szeged as well. Th e airshows organised here had a very important role in popularizing the quite primitive and imperfect machine in Hungary. In the development of aviation technology enterprising spirit and resourcefulness were of primary importance at the beginning, but as soon as the government recognizedthe potentials provided by aviation, it took the initiative. Th e present essay aims to examine the years between 1910 and 1914 which was an era rich not only in success, but in failure as well. Several questions about the air shows will be discussed, including the organizational process and the diffi culties the pilots faced. It will be also shown that the planesoft enhad to be repaired and serviced by the pilots themselves, without any specific equipment. |
