Summary:In present study forced and trained sweet pepper was examined in high plastic tunnel. The amount of light intensity and different height of leaves was measured, moreover the photosynthetic activity, transpirational activity and efficiency of water usage were characterized. The study focused on to find differences between the activity of leaves and is it necessary or not to prune the lower leaves away during the crop. The results showed that the older leaves with less light radiation produce less organic matter and evaporate more water than the leaves in better irradiation circumstances. Therefore cutting them away is recommended. The medium-high leaves on older, higher plants have almost the same results so to remove them could be suggested as well.
