Tartalmi kivonat: | This paper summarizes the basic claims established in my doctoral dissertation, which aims to reveal the internal layers of Noun Phrases in French. The analyses are made in a generative framework called Minimalist Hypothesis. I attempt to construct a theoretical model of the functional layers on which are situated the structural positions reserved for the different types of determiners. Each structural position hosts a determiner that can be assigned a particular type of semantical interpretation. The main hypothesis of the dissertation is that the functional projection called Determiner Phrase (DP) corresponds in French to an apparently heterogeneous class of Noun Phrases: definite and bare NPs; these constituents share nevertheless a very important pragmatic property: they are the only expressions that can function as topics in spoken French. |
