Tartalmi kivonat:The number of Hungarians in Vojvodina has been decreasing since the 1960s. One of the reasons behind this is the falling number of births. In 1991, the birth of 3621 Hungarian infants was recorded, but by 2015, this number decreased to 1822. The raw birth rate dropped from 10 per mille to under 8 per mille. Between 1991 and 2015, the Hungarian population decreased by roughly 30 percent. The number of childbearing women dropped by an even higher rate, close to 40 percent. The total fertility rate among Hungarians is approximately 1.1, which is half of the 2.2 value that is necessary for the stagnation of the population.
