Tartalmi kivonat:In my dissertation I examine the effect of incumbency in the Hungarian parliamentary elections. First of all, it is necessary to look at studies on similar topics published in the international literature. This is followed by a description of the key features of the electoral system and voter behavior before beginning the examination of the incumbency effect. The question then arises as to whether there is any effect of incubation in Hungary's parliamentary elections. To get a more accurate picture of this, it needs to be examined at different levels, looking at whether it is more present in urban or rural constituencies and whether individual votes play any role in national elections. To answer the questions, I need to analyze the election results. I examine these results with the help of the database I created, which contains basic information about individual constituency representatives who are able to enter the legislature during the eight elections. Just as the effect of incumbency in Hungary does not appear as a specific element in the Hungarian elections, due to the large party identification of voters. For this reason, I draw attention to the possible causes through a brief presentation of Hungarian political culture.
