Description
Summary:The regional development concepts developed during the socialist era had a great impact on the urbanization of the country. These ideas led to the development of general settlement plans, followed by programs for individual neighborhoods. In the long run, these proposals determined the direction of the development of our settlements, including the development of the largest city in South Transdanubia. Pécs was of major importance for coal mining but also had significant industrial facilities. As a result, after 1945 the city began to develop vigorously, and many plans were made to develop it. As a first step, in 1951 the city was classified into a category to be developed, which resulted in a general layout plan concept for Pécs (Gyula Majorossy). I would like to present in detail this document, how this project was conceived of the development of Pécs in the Rákosi era, and how these ideas influenced the long-term development of the city.
