Tartalmi kivonat:The last austro-turkish war can be considered as a turning point in the history of Hungary: it terminates a three century long period of Hungarian-Ottoman conflict, as well as the rule of Joseph the II. We can say that the history of this war is well known, however, the fates of the individuals of those involved are less so. Ignác Vörös de Farád fought as a Land Comissionar, and his reminiscences can give us valuable data to the average days of war. As a Land Comissionar, the writer of this memo got into conflicts many times with those, who were up to profiteer from the horror of war: following Vörös’s memo, we can get a broader view to the corruption and abuse of the hinterland. My primary aims are to present the history of the war, the Land Commissariat of Joseph, and the respondes the corruption. In this study, I will follow Ignác Vörös’s investigation in Szeged: as he spends more and more time with, and getting tighter relatonships with the members of this mafia, until himself „becomes one of them”.
