| Tartalmi kivonat: | In the past 150 years, one and a half million Hungarians emigrated to the U.S.A. owing to their tempestuous past and their couriosity. Some hoped to make a better living, while others seeked to escape the extreme ideologies of political regimes. (az értelmiségi emigrációra nem találtam szinonimát, ezért körülírtam.) Nowadays, 1.25 million out of the more than 300 million Americans state to have Hungarian origins, and more than 100 thousand of them speaks Hungarian. It is estimated that a half a million people may have Hungarian self-identity. Most of them keep in touch with people living in Hungary and they are looking forward to widening their social network in their homeland. Having cooperated as twin-cities for thirty years, Toledo,Ohio and Szeged are prime examples of generating mutual economic prosperity, important human relationships and friendships for a lifetime. |
