Tartalmi kivonat: | Studying long-term demographic changes is one of the most intriguing areas of the field of demography, especially in cases which focus on a smaller region or a country. The theory of Second Demographic Transition describes best the present and expected demographic changes in the Carpathian Basin and Europe. However, there are subtle differences in the Hungarian trends compared to the western part of Europe. This study presents an overview of the mentioned theory followed by a detailed analysis of the most prominent type of demographic changes characterizing the 21st century:a general aging of the population. Data used encompasses processes of the past ca. 100 years. Characteristic features of suicide as a special phenomenon 111 Hungary is also touched upon. |
