Tartalmi kivonat:The factors of regional competitiveness tend to fulfil an increasing role and importance in the outcomes of the national economy. Sport economy shares a part as well in this, since sport can affect the national output through its economic and social functions in a complex manner. The athletes, as part of the economic and social capital take part in this process. The athlete’s identity, the values facilitated by sports as well as the sporting competences all have become economic development factors both within the labormanagement of corporations and in the field of sport policy. The goal of our research is to reveal the differences emerging in our national region for sport skills as manifested regional preserving power. We examine the regional distribution of sport support schemes, the ratio of athletes appearing in the double career-path support system. All these are presented from the athlete’s perspectives. The methodology of the survey, from one hand involves questionnaires (item number: 1018), from the other hand it also contains deep interviews with athletes (15 professional athletes) supporting the findings of the questionnaires. As a result of our research, it reveals that the double sporting careerpath opportunities and athlete as human capital profitability items differ regionally. The economic and social role and importance of athletes as key factors tend to appear within regional sport policy. It is noteworthy that the implementation of the athlete’s values greatly depends on the regional sport-strategy, and we tend to presenting results of the national emergence and distribution of this kind of strategy. The research findings are applicable through the regional area development policy and tend to be also manifested as guidelines for the regional competitiveness in shaping sports, as an important factor of area development.
