Tartalmi kivonat:Constantine Monomachos gained the imperial throne owing to his marriage with Empress Zoe, but his rule was constricted by Empress Zoe's and Empress Theodora's influence and popularity. There are some evidences presenting the possibility of an imperial propaganda which was to raise Emperor Constantine's influence in the empire. On the Monomachos Crown the three emperors' - especially Constantine's - enamels suggest another imperial propaganda with the same logic as the former one, but in this case the Byzantine government desired to affect a foreign court, since the Crown was a diplomatic present. This study attempts to reveal how the problem of Constantine's legitimacy produced two imperial propagandas, and how they functioned in the Byzantine Empire and abroad.
