Leíró adatok
Tartalmi kivonat:Official documents and pictorial representations give us a fairly clear picture of the illnesses and injuries of Charles I, among them the assasination attempts committed by the orders of Peter son of Petenye and later by Felicián Zách [Záh], his several illnesses during his journeys, and his longtime arthritis, which possibly caused his death. The author also investigates the ways in which these influenced his political and military endeavours. We are in a more fortunate situation when dealing with Louis I, because the Hungarian and foreign narrative sources provide us with a much more detailed picture. The bold monarch was injured multiple times during various sieges in Naples and Lithuania, survived the plague, an attack of a bear on a hunting, and multiple assassination attempts. The researchers were convinced for a long time that the cause of his death was leprosy, but the poor evidence is not completely convincing. The contemporary concepts about diseases are also discussed in the article.
