| Tartalmi kivonat: | Jászszentandrás is mostly populated by Catholic inhabitants. Religious devotion is beautifully expressed by crucifixes and statues of saints erected with various intentions. In the inner and outer districts of the village, there are 16 crucifixes, which have been renovated and altered several times. They were erected on the way from the churchyard as far as the outskirts of the village. The statues of Saint John of Nepomuk and Saint Wendelin are wide-spread in the region ofJászság. The statue of Saint Anthony of Padua was erected in the churchyard in 1930. The statues were made by masters from Jászság, but some are works of stone carvers of Mátra and Bükk regions. Collective memories connected to the crucifixes and statues as well as different forms of popular religiosity can still be found. It is an urgent task to research them in the near future. |
