Tartalmi kivonat:The Érdy-codex, written by Karthausian Anonymus Monk in 1526, belongs to the works which show the appearance of humanism in Hungarian language. The legends of the book emphasise the special human worth of the saints. In case of the Hungarian saints they talk about patriotism and the examples of self-sacrificing protection of the motherland. The personality of Jesus gets closer to the reader from different aspects. Above all, Jesus is the Saviour. But, as a model to be followed, Christ's human worth come into prominence which characterizes the rennaissance human ideal, too. Christ's perfect personality is in contradiction with the features of Antichrist. The writer of the codex analyses and criticizes the behaviour of the church and secular leaders of his rennaissance age. He also expresses his sympathies to the suffering villains. He shows that the social and historical problems of his age derives from the alienation from the teaching of Jesus Christ. In the codex we can also read about the portrait of the age of the Mohács Battle (1526).
