| Tartalmi kivonat: | In his study the author systematises the apocryphal prayers from the southern Great Plain. These prayers were recognised already during the last century. Orbán Grünn, a typographer in Szeged, published apocryphal prayers already in the 1820s. In 1891 Lajos Kálmány wasthe first folklorist who presented apocryphal prayers in the third volume of his book, „The people of Szeged". In spite of Church prohibition the priest and folklorist Kálmány published ten apocryphal prayers from surroundings of Szeged. Sándor Bálint, the later professor of the Department of Ethnology at the University of Szeged recognised the real importance of these prayers. According to him the popular religious customs of the Middle Ages remained unchanged in the Szeged region partly because of the Turkish occupation and partly because of the Reformation and the lack of priests. The apocryphal prayers were accepted as a separate genre in the early 1970s due to the activity of Zsuzsanna Erdélyi. |
