Tartalmi kivonat:Sándor Bálint, the later professor of ethnography at the Szeged University, was bom in 1904 in Szeged-Lower town. His father died next year, so his mother brought him up alone in the religious, moral atmosphere of Szeged-Lower town. Later, as an ethnographer his patrimony became the research of his home town. His matrim ony was the people in Szeged, the region and the research of the Hungarian popular religiosity in European and historical connection. Sándor Bálint did not just research the Catholic faith but lived according to it mainly with his deep veneration of Virgin M ary and the love of his fellow-men. With Ids kindness and generosity he served his home town and science. Life often put him to the test. His marriage was a failure. Under false pretence he was forced to retire. The author asks: Is it possible to beatify Sándor Bálint? The question was raised in 1989 to Endre Gyulay, the bishop of Szeged-Csanád Diocese and after his heartening answer the author wrote to Sándor Bálint's students and hundreds of his contemporaries. In 1994 he handed over the answers to the bishop. In author's book Az Úr készen találta őt (Lord Found Him Ready) besides introducing his life the author quoted a lot from these letters, too.
