Tartalmi kivonat:The study briefly presents a few rites of remembrance in a Székelyföld village where the majority of the population are ethnic Hungarians of Roman Catholic religion, and analyses one of these rites. It describes the distinctive elements of cults, their spread in time and space, and attempts to throw light on the elements of a rite that help and strengthen remembrance. During the preparations and then at the feast itself we encounter a number of objects (objects used in processions, objects of the sacred space), practices (novena, stations of the cross), decorations and costume that serve to emphasise the importance of the cult and may also help to preserve it for many years to come. The mass communications means now available greatly increase the possibilities for recording and storing the memories and then making them accessible again, thereby increasing the chances that the cult will continue indefinitely and become more widely known.
