| Tartalmi kivonat: | The study analyses the political, social and emotional ties of the people to the Hungarian Kingdom within the Habsburg Monarchy. The Author focuses on three levels: the national, local and personal attitudes towards the political system, the Hungarian state and the monarch. According to the Author a unified civil consciousness or constitutional patriotism could not be formed during the five decades of the Austro-Hungarian Compromise, however the local identity was strong. He examines the arguments of the local communities against the homogenising efforts of the state. At last he emphasises with the help of an ego-document that the working of identity is very complex on the personal level. In fact, identity can include seemingly controversial ethnic, religious, political and dynastical loyalties at the same time. |
