Tartalmi kivonat:On May 7, 1913, János Tóth, the parson of Fertőmeggyes reported telegraphically to the episcopal office of Győr about the miraculous healing of a nun from Sopron, Rosamunda Rimpfel, in Lourdes. The sister, whose “upper body had been placed into a machine five years ago”, suffered from intractable thoracic spinal column degeneration, but after her first bath she threw away her iron corset and, accor-ding to the local press, walked without help.János Tóth, who had organized and lead pilgrimages to Lourdes for years, persistently urged the examination and recognition of this miracle for decades. He turned not only to two succeeding bishops of Győr and to their diocesan authorities regarding the matter of Rosamunda, but to the bishop of Lourdes and to the Vatican offices as well. His press releases and correspondence, which remained largely without res-ponse, can be traced to the end of the 1920s. During his strife to make this miracle be recognized he got into conflict with several ecclesiastical and civil dignitaries who from the 1920s became notable persons in the official structure; he was removed from his parish and stripped of his living. Although he had been retired in 1936, as one of the most active organizers of pilgrimages, he opened a religious item shop, edited church magazines and newspapers and strived for the wide-ning of the reputation of the Lourdes Shrine and for the recognition of this miracle of Lourdes until the end of his life.
