Three southem writers and three short stories are analysed in this paper and their common, as well as distinct characteristics are surveyed. By investigating themes, setting, symbolism and narrative techniques in short stories by Katherine Anne Porter, Andrew Lytle and Elizabeth Spencer, various degrees of blending tradition and modernity can be pointed out. |
