Tartalmi kivonat:The genre called chronicon breve forms a special part of historical sources in Byzantine historiography. These short chronicles provide a brief and precise description of events year by year. They specify data that we already have and in some cases they shed light on new historical facts. Peter Schreiner edited these short chronicles adding philological and historical comments. Since then, the Slavonic ethnical groups and the fights against the Turk have been in the focus of attention. Besides these conflicts, the chronicles also have references to Hungarian history, since approximately 40 chronicles imply relevant information connected to the Turk conquest. Among these there is one that has the most references to our history, namely chr. 63 and its four continuations. To summarize the characteristics of chronicon breve we translated and examined some of its notes. These fragments do not contain new facts about Hungarian history, in other respects, however, they might be of crucial importance. Hungarian proper nouns appear differently here, therefore short chronicles can help us study the changes in textual traditions. In my essay I intend to give a general description of chronicon breve and point out the great opportunities this genre might provide.
