Tartalmi kivonat:In Fiume’s port at the start of the XX. century, there were quite a few government supported and free naval trading companies with Austrian, Hungarian and Croat stakeholders, which linked the Hungarian naval exit with a lot of international ports by trading continuously. From all these companies the SS Indeficienter was the most important. The name of this company was actually Fiume's motto, and the company was not owned by a corporation at the steam ship's listing in 1901 but a shareholder group of about 70 people from Fiume's population. The steam ship's listing and the invigoration of local ambitions for autonomy were happening at the same time, and also with the founding of Fiume's Sirius Lodge of the Hungarian Symbolic Lodge; moreover the autonomy’s main advocates and the local freemansions were both in the shareholder group of the steam ship. Both in my presentation and essay, with presenting the history and trading of the Idenficiener steam ship I analyse if the Italian entrepreneurs were solely motivated by business interests when they joined the Austria-Hungary naval trading life or if the Indeficiener steam ship was the local people'semblem of their self-consciousness. From my work, I hope that on the base of my researches in the archives in Budapest (Magyar Országos Levéltár) and in Fiume (Državni Arhiv u Rijeci), with also using relevant academic literature, I can unfold and present a lesser known chapter in the history of the Hungarian naval trading and Fiume's ambitions for autonomy.
