Tartalmi kivonat:Reality, perhaps fiction? – Pannonia inferior amphitheatres in the light of recent researches: The basic aim of my thesis to examine more thorough amphitheatres within the territory of Pannonia inferior. Pannonia was divided by Marcus Ulpius Traianus Emperor at the beginning of the second century AD, which extended to the territory of present-day four countries (Hungary, Serbia, Croatia, BosniaHerzegovina). Amphitheatres built in these provinces could not compete with the ancient world's most famous building, Amphitheatre Flavium which is better known as Colosseum, regarding its capacity or size. About the objects located within the territory of province, apart from citizen and Aquincum military town amphitheatre, we have only a few reliable information. During my research I strived above all to separate from each other real and unfounded statements. Circular theatres excavated in the territory of Pannonia inferior are only a very small part of about 230 ancient facilities in the territory of Imperium Romanum. Contrary to general belief, in these places not only classic gladiator fights were held, but also Roman mythology, history of empire, and terrestrial or even naval battles revived via various organized scenes. In my thesis, I tried to locate and introduce popular structures once standing in the province with comparison of findings of archaeological excavations and historical sources, and I also tried to dispel some beliefs which have been spreading in some scientific community for a long time.
