Tartalmi kivonat:Earl József Pálffy and the case of the towns with royal charter at the Diet of 1843/44: In my essay, I examine the case of the towns with royal charter at the Diet of 1843/44 through Earl József Pálffy’s comments. This case’s equalisation was very important, because the orders restricted the towns rights in the previous decades. The towns had just one collective vote at the Diet, earlier they voted one by one. The king controlled the towns so the nobility was hostile towards them. Proposals were made in the previous Diets, however these recommendations did not become laws, and unfortunately neither did the equalisation at this Diet of 1843/44. The nobility discussed the following points related to towns at this Diet: annexation case, rule creation and supervisory institution cases, civil qualifications questions, emissary choice case, justice case and the towns voting rights case.
