Tartalmi kivonat:In the military circles of the Austrian–Hungarian Monarchy, it was recognised relatively early what options lied in utilising aviation tools for war purposes. Due to the traditional military approach of the highest management and the limited financial resources, the field of aviation had not been developed appropriately. When the war burst out, the entente countries had essential aviation tool superiority as compared to that of the Monarchy. During the years of the war, there was considerable growth in the field of military aviation even in the military force of the Austrian–Hungarian Monarchy. In 1915, the low staff number Aeronautic Group was transformed into the Aviation Troops, then in 1918, the Imperial and Royal Air Forces were established. By the last year of the war, the Monarchy’s air forces got transformed into an independent arm both from the point of view of their organisation and application. In August 1914, Austria and Hungary had only 48 aircrafts and 289 staff members, while in October 1918, they had 1733 aircrafts and 5711 staff members. Despite the enormous growth and the resistance of the aviation soldiers, till the end, the Monarchy had had considerable disadvantage as compared to the entente forces in the field of aviation because of the initial lagging and the limited manufacturing and servicing capacities.
