Tartalmi kivonat:The author discusses and compares the Vogul and Ostyak causative derivational systems. After presenting the data, she examines the origin of the suffixes and claims that -/-. emerged during the Ugric period along with the developments of Uralic *-t-/*-tt- and *-kt-; -pt-, one of the most frequent current suffixes appeared even later. Ob-Ugric causative suffixes have much in common with those in Samoyed languages, and the author emphasizes the importance of studying the languages of West Siberian linguistic area with respect to causative derivation, since the correspondences seem to be areal. Finally, the author examines the rules of causative derivation in Ob-Ugric languages from a typological point of view with a detailed account of multiple causation. The author concludes the paper with a remark that current research into Ob-Ugric causative constructions must mainly rely on written sources, for causative suffixation is disappearing and is replaced by auxiliary constructions, under Russian influence.
