| Summary: | The aim of my thesis is to introduce the principles and techniques of teaching and learning vocabulary and to examine them at primary schools, especially at the Primary School of Örkény. In the first chapter I will demonstrate the features of teaching and learning English in my school, the need for my researches and my objectives in teaching and learning vocabulary. In the second chapter I introduce vocabulary in brief and present the principles of teaching and learning vocabulary in a second language. In chapter three I present the most frequently used techniques in teaching new words. In chapter four I describe my research which examines the techniques used by my colleagues in my school and other teachers. In chapter five I present my research which examines the learning techniques used by my pupils. In the last chapter I summarise my experiences in connection the theme of my thesis. |
