| Tartalmi kivonat: | This thesis aims to illustrate Oscar Wilde's statement, according to which "Life imitates Art far more than Art imitates Life" through his nine tales, which today are collected in one volume, The Happy Prince and Other Stories, and his only novel, The Picture of Dorian Gray. While analysing the tales and the novel, considering the most important details of Wilde's biography and also using some critics' opinion, I will come to the conclusion that both parts of this statement are true for Oscar Wilde's writings. On the one hand, some of the tales and the novel seem to be unconscious prophecies, on the other hand, they undoubtedly mirror his life. |
