| Summary: | This thesis examines the protagonists' deeds in A. Miller's dramas in the point of view of what causes their tragedy, whether they are victims or heroes. I will prove that the consequences depend not only on their surroundings, relatives, friends or the society, but also their sense of responsibility. A.Miller's protagonists are ordinary people with 'errors and frailty' like their readers/audience so we mustn't judge them harshly, we should rather sympathize with them since they are victims and heroes at the same time. I will demonstrate this on the basis of some outstanding dramas namely All my Sons, Death of a Salesman, The Crucible, A View from the Bridge and After the Fall. |
