The aim is this thesis is to distinguish between the Orwellian dark future and the worlds made by Collins and Moore. The basis of the differentiation is that in the Orwellian dystopia the system is such a strong one, that it does not collapses at the end, but Snow President’s and Adam Sutler’s dictatorical regime actually did. My aim is to point out the differences in these worlds to show why the regime of Nineteen Eighty-four stands still, while the others don’t. In the chapters of my thesis I compare the Big Brother’s world to the trilogy of The Hunger Games and V for Vendetta one by one, pointing out different aspects of the totalitarian regimes. I compare the leaders and the surveillance as well, but also point out similarities in the regimes. Another thing I compare is the protagonist in some aspects. Although I used the film adaptations of the novels, in some cases I cite from the novels as well, for the better understanding of my point. These imaginary futures can make us see that how different authors saw our future. | |
