Today, data and information are stored worldwide in computer databases, which process enormous amounts of data and store data that may be relevant in criminal proceedings (digital traces). During the connection of different computer systems, the information stored in each database becomes comparable, and by applying a suitable filtering technique, it will be possible to separate the range of data characteristic of a specific group. Data that can be specified for a specific group of persons, the range of target persons is continuously narrowed, and then the wanted person can be identified. However, in the course of the screening, personal data concerning a number of persons is also made public, and it is only revealed during the subsequent analysis/evaluation work that it cannot be connected either to the crime or to the suspected perpetrator. After outlining the fundamental legal problems of raster investigation, this study looks for the answer to the question of what possibilities lie in the domestic application of data mining. | |
