The goal of our survey was to identify and characterize Hungarian consumer groups on the topic in question, on the basis of a detailed questionnaire. In the course of the statistical evaluation, main component and factor analysis, as well as K-Means cluster analysis were performed. Data measured using the ecological orientation scale (NEP scale [1]) were also included in the cluster formation, assuming that this will be helpful in the interpretation of the attitude toward cloning. Four consumer clusters were distinguished, and these were named as “technocrat”, “utilitarian”, “naive resistant” and “risk sensitive”. A connection was revealed between ecological orientation and the attitude toward cloning, the measurement of ecological orientation was helpful in explaining and better understanding the consumer perception of cloning. The results of the survey showed significant differences according to the qualifications of the subjects (relevant degree), their level of knowledge and their interest in the topic as well. Thus, it was confirmed that attitudes are affected by several factors, and our results can provide a basis for starting a consultation with consumers, and for shaping and changing consumer views.
