Summary:Hryhory Kvitka-Osnovyanenko (1778-1843), is an Ukrainian writer and playwright, who is often referred to as the father of the Ukrainian prose, wrote a number of satiric dramas in Russian language in the second decade of XIX century. Kvitka-Osnovyanenko’s oeuvre is characterised by manyfold and exciting usage of speaking names.
