Tartalmi kivonat:It is through the senses that the human conscience notices the Sacred and responds to it. Investigations of the history and phenomena of religions show that each of our senses is capable of such attention and response, and from time to time fulfils this function. In this paper, I make an attempt to describe how the desire to see leads to God, noting that I will discuss only one aspect of the grand relationship. The data is from the Old and New Testaments through the investigation of which we also take the opportunity to examine the popular religiosity of our times. This paper discusses this biblical topic in reference, first, to the Mithraic cult and, finally, to popular religious life. It can be evidenced that possessing the ability of "sight" is a universal human opportunity and aspiration to approach wholeness. Our other senses have also been shown to have similar capabilities. It is clear from the biblical excerpts that the entire human history can be represented by expanding the ability of "sight".
